well bitches...at least it's more historically accurate (but maybe with more spelling errors).--Moheevi 23:11, July 13, 2006 (CDT)

about that original pic - it's not actually a firefighter saving a cat from a burning building, if I remmember correctly from the russian news it was a cat stuck in a ventilation shaft or seomething like that in Moscow, winter 2004/05 I believe? The cat was there for hours until it was finally rescued & it was really frozen almost to the bone. It was in the news on the net I think, but it's really hard to find the original article(s)... Origins of this image really concern me... Anyone volunteer to discover them? -IJK_Principle 18:41, July 28, 2006 UTC+1

It seems that some people believe that I've taken undeserved credit for creation for the fad. To set the record straight, I've never claimed to make NEDM what it is, or even to engineer the fad (which was Moheevi's doing for the most part). I will acknowledge however, that my comment fell victim to a bizarre sort of internet butterfly effect. To be honest I had no idea what NEDM was until a friend (Officer Cooper) linked me to the Investigation and was said "dude... you're never going to believe where NEDM came from". Having held at least some part (though very small) in creating ytmnd history, I thought it was appropriate to create "NEDM: Revelations" offering my personal point of view on the matter. In summary: "**** off, haters." I know NEDM is not my baby. - Titanium-Gecko -

New section

Should we add a section about how some people think NEDM supports the original cat burning? - Numbr1rater

yes--momthinksimcool 18:27, May 11, 2007 (CDT)

Cat Burning Linking

Okay, theyre are people on YTMND who are starting to link to the Cat burning video thats deep within the Annals of consumption Junction.com. Myspace.com also has the video which people are linking to. someone donated money to one of the YTMND's featuring the cat burning, making it impossible to delete. This has to be placed in here.--Strongbad20212000 22:59, August 2, 2006 (CDT)

  • Okay, someone linked to the Cat burning video here. WHY???!?!--Strongbad20212000 15:22, August 9, 2006 (CDT)

Freedom of speech? Max is a troll btw hun --momthinksimcool 12:04, May 12, 2007 (CDT)

The real meaning behind NEDM.

I really think that there is still a lot of confusion on NEDM that needs to be cleared up.

While its true that Titanium Gecko had a particular viewpoint on animal cruelty, the real reason the fad was started was because of his decision to downvote people who upvoted the site because he assumed that anyone who 5'd the site condoned the burning of cats. (He also assumed that I did as well) and the fact that he didn't really understand the YTMND for anything past the image of the cat burning. I think the explanation of NEDM at the end is really showing the bias in this article. And seeing how Titanium Gecko has been editing this page; I can see why.

At this point, the NARVs and others who don't understand the NEDM fad see it as only the idea that nothing condones the burning of cats (not even Doom music), which is purely the assumption that doom music was intended to justify a cat burning in the first place. The concept of misinterpretation needs to be discussed further.

Some other facts not mentioned in the wiki

The original cat site was sponsored for 10 dollars.

The majority of people who downvoted the site assumed that Baron made the cat burning Video.

nevermind max deleted it.

NEDM outside YTMND (An external fan site)

http://notevendoommusic.com/ I do not know who made this (most likely a well known YTMNDer), but should this link be added or a section about "NEDM outside of YTMND" be made? --Southpark 14:44, August 31, 2006 (CDT)

Happy Cats Name

hey, is it just me or should happy cat have an offical name?--Strongbad20212000 17:14, October 3, 2006 (CDT)

That is its name. Its a mascot for the Happycat pet food company

NEDM Revenge

  • This site is incredibly stupid. There are plenty of other sites that deserve an honorable mention here. --Unsigned comment, left by NEDM Patrol

Origin of firefighter image

After a bit of research, I've worked out where the photo comes from.

A quick search on Google Images for "cat firefighter russia" gave me a entry containing the image. This linked to a russian livejournal post, which gave another link to what I think is a humour site. This credits the image to a photographer, "Anton Tushin", and links to his blog. The post with the original photo is here [1] .

The entry with the photo includes a link to a russian news article about an explosion in Moscow on 20th January 2006, when 15 people were injured. I managed to find an english-language article about it [2], but that's where I hit a dead end. There doesn't seem to be any other news stories about the incident. Found another Russian news story [3]. Piastol

What TTS program?

Anybody know what Text-to-Speech program was used for the NEDM voice?SgtMuffles 16:41, January 20, 2007 (CST)

  • I'd like to know that, too. --Threyon 03:49, March 12, 2007 (CDT)

Objectivity?

The ytmnd wiki has always seemed so weird to me because the participants are always unabashadly take moral stances in the wiki, and enforce to the point where it isn't objective. Seems kind of like the fox news of online journalism. What exactly is this supposed to accomplish? In my experience communities are more interesting when there is room for open debate and difference of opinion then when everyone slavishly enforces the dominant mind set... --momthinksimcool 11:42, May 12, 2007 (CDT)
