Known bugs/unfinished features/broken things

  • Need to add number of users online, site count, user count etc.
  • Almost none of the user preferences work. Some of been fixed. Here is what hasn't been fixed. -Hanktherapper
    • Any of the NSFW filter or settings
    • Anything in the Privacy section
    • Making someone an enemy doesn't hide their sites or comments.
  • When someone FAV's a site and comments, the "FAV" does not show up as their rating next to their comment. --prairiedogeric10
  • The feed view settings do not save. Also, if you uncheck all the boxes, it breaks it until refreshed. -MrStump
  • Posting replies to comments in IE8 doesn't work. Nothing happens when you click "reply" regardless if there is text entered in the initial comment box. - Kremlin
  • Some sites report having close to 17 million views in the "last week" column. Example: http://ytmnd.com/sites/944132/profile - Kremlin ("seconded": Lacrossestar83 18:10, April 12, 2010 (UTC))
  • superstar.php is broken :C - Kremlin
  • Asset page looks all wacky like this http://imgur.com/Kip06.png and also when the asset is a .jpg it links to it with the extension ".jpeg" which gives a 404. Browser info: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 -Flotilla
  • User "hidden"[1] has his name hidden (not displayed) in all his comments. --Ardy 01:09, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

  • Not able to send new messages or reply to PM's. Can't click on 'Send Message' or 'Send Reply' --ryanmontana
    • Browser + version + OS? Max 19:33, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
    • Tested in Firefox 3.5/3.6, IE8 and latest Chrome with no issue. Max 19:35, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
    • Occurred in IE8 on MS Windows XP (was using a friends pc). Haven't had a chance to test it again. Works fine on my pc (Firefox 3.6/Windows Vista) ryanmontana
    • I actually had it happen on Firefox, but received no error and from looking at the code could not tell why. Refreshing fixed it. I have to analyze the code more but for the moment it's low priority. Max 01:09, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
  • Voting on comments does not work (Chrome) Also maybe add when you click on the vote, it can display all votes. Ex, a Comments vote is +5 but when clicked it would say +7/-2.
    • I can not reproduce any of your Chrome issues, but I added a title to the score so you can see the + and - votes. Max 00:28, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
  • My feed doesn't update when my friends create sites. It shows when they've edited their sites, however. (Firefox) - Nuroticat
  • Unchecking all feed options instead causes all feed info to be displayed. (Firefox) - Nuroticat
  • Can't comment on site profiles (Chrome)
    • I can not reproduce this. Need more information. Max 00:25, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
    • I see this bug. You can type characters in the box, but the character count doesn't update to indicate that you've typed any characters. I imagine a safeguard from making an empty post keeps the Submit button from working, and the end result is you can't post comments. Seen in Chrome, version 5.0.342.8. --MuToiDMaN 02:40, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
      • Note: I refreshed the page and it started working, not sure if it was one of the extensions I toggled in attempt to narrow down the cause, but it is still working now that I've re-enabled all my extensions. Extensions running: AdThwart 0.8.12, Bubble Translate 1.2, SmoothScroll 0.6.1. Hope this helps --MuToiDMaN 02:40, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
  • Can't unhide comments (Chrome) Also it should just say "Below comment threshold"
    • I can not reproduce this. Need more information. Also, "Below comment threshold" makes no sense. Max 00:25, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
  • If I want to remove someone from my friends list it automatically assumes I want to make them an enemy (and vice versa). I realize we can remove them by visiting their profile, but we should be able to delete them from there. -Hanktherapper
    • I guess it isn't completely clear. When you remove a friend it says "X has been removed from your friends list, would you like to make them an enemy?", if you hit cancel, they won't be added to your enemies list and the same goes for removing enemies. As I can't change the button text of browser dialogs like that, I suppose I need to write a better description. Max 01:28, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
  • The character count for site titles is either not accurate or something. I attempted to use the full 128 characters, and got an error message telling me was over 128. I had to shorten it to 126 to get it to accept the title. -GaryGnu
    • i experienced the same thing with the zooming text feilds --Krangar18
  • This may fall under "Almost none of the user preferences work." but when i uncheck things on my feed page, those changes don't save and it goes back to default on reload. also, i have "Do not let people see when i view sites/users or rate comments" checked, and it's not doing a GOD DAMN THING. SHUT THE FUCK UP VINCENT!!!!!. --Krangar18
  • I can only upload a sound asset once when editing a site. If I upload a different sound file during the same editing session, a window pops up with an error message. - Nuroticat
    • What's the error message? Max 01:09, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
  • Error message: There were errors with your upload of (any sound file) No valid files uploaded. Error #2. - Nuroticat
    • Sorry, what browser? Max 13:13, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
  • Firefox 3.6.3 (on Windows 7) - Nuroticat
  • Just did some more testing, no error #2 for me in Internet Explorer 8. (Windows 7) - Nuroticat
  • I can't add a comment to a site I added to my favorites list DarthWang 05:02, April 15, 2010 (UTC)
  • Since the layout change, I haven't been able to view about 80% or so of YTMND sites. Which ones work and which don't seems random, but it seems to happen no matter what computer or broswer I use. I made an account to see if it solved the problem, but it's still showing up. Is anyone else having this problem?

A few examples of non-functional sites:

http://whereisleeroy.ytmnd.com/

http://defectivehl.ytmnd.com/

 D2r 13:33, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

That's happened to some of my sites, but if I edit them and reupload the assets it seems to fix them. DarthWang 00:28, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

Well, yeah, but a lot of the stuff I can't view aren't actually my sites, so I don't know what to do...the problem seems to persist no matter what browser I use. D2r 03:42, May 8, 2010 (UTC)
  • I've tried almost everything and I can't manage to upload any mp3s. Used IE, Firefox, Chrome on Windows XP, and sent to two other friends, one using a Mac. Encoded mp3s in 64, 96 and 128kbps, using Lame or FH in programs ranging from Cubase to iTunes. I always end up with one of two errors (first one from Cubase, second from Garageband, iTunes...):

1. JavaScript error (upload bar gets stuck on "processing"):

There were errors with your upload of "C:\path\file.mp3":

--FireAarro 04:28, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

  • When two people reply to the same comment you can't view the comments as the expand box doesn't do anything, they only become expandable when more people reply or make more comments on the profile. DarthWang 23:55, September 9, 2012 (CDT)

Broken Images and Links

WONT FIX

  • Posting comments is messed up in Opera. - Kremlin
    • Oh nice specifics. -MrStump
      • OH FINE. The submit button doesn't display correctly. I'm not sure if it's just not there or formatted behind something either. Oh and this is the opera version on the wii I really dunno about the desktop version heh - Kremlin

Feature requests

  • How about the ability to place the foreground image in more than just one spot? (If that's possible) -GaryGnu
  • Customizable home page like in YTMND 1.0 (add/move/remove where it shows "Sponsored Sites", "Recently Created", etc...
  • Make the preloader optional like in YTMND 1.0, or remove it all together. It inhibits the beauty of classic style sites. This has literally killed the beauty of linking someone to a ytmnd.com site for a quick joke.
  • Save preferences feature for the Feed page. Checking/unchecking boxes again after reloading can be tedious. ryanmontana
  • Before update when receiving pm's the envelope would change from white to orange. Since The update it only changes the number next to the envelope while the envelope remains the same color. Possibly have the envelope change to a contrasting color again to alert attention?--Laundry 02:08, April 5, 2010 (UTC)
    • We're in talks with meebo about some sort of integration, although I don't think it would change the crashing issues. What browser, and error message if any?
  • Any chance of having "user search" AND "site search" bars at the top of the fp? There seems to be plenty of room... Joeyjoejoe
  • Something on our profile page that shows where are highest/lowest rated comments are.

Theme and design suggestions

  • In the "recent activity" table on user pages, left-justify the "activity" column. This will make it easier to read. —Rafe.
  • The check boxes in my feed and spy automatically reset every time I leave the page. It would be convenient if these settings would be saved so I don't have to constantly change them. I can see some people wanting to see what everybody does, but I don't want to see everything.
    • Those checkboxes are mostly temporary until I find the time to make a nicer UI for them. At that point I'm planning on adding javascript/cookies to remember the defaults. Max 05:52, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
  • The ads are really annoying. They really distract from whats going on on the page. For example the ads in site profiles should be top / bottom banners. steakman
    • ( ._.)
    • (._. )
    • I am waiting to hear back from FM about deferring or "lazy loading" the ads, so they are only loaded once the rest of the page has loaded, or even better, when they need to be displayed. Max
    • Why not have just two banners per page, one at the top and bottom? And maybe put the FP ad in the center like it used to be.steakman
  • Also please bring back green usernames in the comments so I can see where the hell I said something. steakman
  • The fact that your feed settings don't save hurt this the most IMO. The feed would replace the recent comments... personally I only want Friend's Sites and comments on mine viewable, but no way am I clicking through all those check boxes every time I wonder if anybody commented on my shit. MrStump
  • More of a question. With the Hall of Fame deleted, the top view clogging sites are back (404 error, blue ball, HTPAT). Are you going to keep it that way or are you looking to change the hall of fame? --Hanktherapper 17:59, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
  • Is the random feature returning soon? Right now, random.ytmnd.com links to the site with "random" as the domain. --prairiedogeric10
  • Not a great big deal, but would it be a simple fix to show the exact timing that we submit sites (down to the seconds like before)? --prairiedogeric10
  • I know you've got to be sick of hearing about the background being too dark. I like how the front page is right now. But it's the comment pages that you could do something with, since people spend more time reading those than they do reading stuff on the front page. Each comment is written on a solid black background. If you could simply change that to a light gray and have the text be black, it would be so much easier on the eyes. This would not require you to change the main background color, just the black rectangles that the comments are on. I think that would be enough to get people to stop complaining about the blackness. --prairiedogeric10
  • Not hugely important, but the ability to edit the order of our frienemies would be nice. - Nuroticat
  • I know this is asking a lot, but an option to switch back to the old theme would be nice. - Kremlin
  • Get rid of those placeholders behind the ads. For those of us with adblock, we're stuck looking at a giant layout full of black boxes. This was not the case in YTMND 1.0
  • Get a different background, one that doesn't make the text so hard to read.
  • The zooming text font should not have been changed for older sites. They were designed with the old font in mind and many jokes are depend upon it. Even a standard site, http://yourethemannowdog.ytmnd.com/, looks sloppy now. The "image text" option does not seem to have suffered.
  • Custom color names for people that bought special edition shirts? steakman
    • Subnote, make logged in user's account name blue so its easy to find on comment pages, etc. steakman
  • Consider bringing back the monty python intermission music. you could have it play when a site is being published. -Krangar18

Fixed bugs

* Need to make site profile site titles link to the actual sites as opposed to just the domain. -Max

    • Fixed Max 16:16, April 11, 2010 (UTC)
  • Bad regular expression causes users with names that begin with 'list' to have unviewable profiles. -Max
    • Example: [2]
    • Fixed Max 16:16, April 11, 2010 (UTC)
  • News window closes, but the preference to have it minimized does not save, nor does it minimize automatically after 3-5 viewings (whatever it was). -MrStump
    • Fixed. Max 19:59, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
      • It DOES work now, but only temporarily. If I close firefox and open it again, the preference is gone and news is open again. I am using the latest version of FF, in Windows 7 64bit btw. -MrStump
      • Updated to use a 30 day cookie. Max 16:06, April 11, 2010 (UTC)
  • And for the love of god, please bring back "recent comments on your sites"steakman
  • I second steakman's request. There so much information on your feed where it's really easy to miss new site comments. --Hanktherapper 16:59, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
    • I've added recent comments to your sites and recent replies to your comments on your profile/comments page. Max 20:40, April 10, 2010 (UTC)
  • Serious bug - closing the contest box down takes me out of the front page and traps me on a blank page - save for all the ads. Especially tedious when the site remembers you've closed the box and it takes you back to the trap again upon refreshing. --Chav-Slayer
    • I've seen this too. It's due to ads using document.write() and rewriting the entire page, it's also the reason why I can't defer ad loads until after the page load (as they will rewrite the entire page). I'm working with FM to come up with an allowable method to do both these things. Max 01:09, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
    • Fixed I think. also iframed side ad to speed up page load. Max 20:40, April 10, 2010 (UTC)
  • Keywords on site profiles featuring keywords using comma seperation appear as one long keyword. --Chav-Slayer
    • I don't understand what you mean. Can you provide an example profile? Max 19:33, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
      • On some site profiles, the string of keywords stick together despite commas being used: http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/5041/oddity.png - note the keywords are underlined together as one. Going over 10 keywords seems to be conflicting with the new site. Thanks for fixing the earlier issue. --Chav-Slayer
    • Thanks, fixed. Max 00:47, April 5, 2010 (UTC)
  • News window closes, but the preference to have it minimized does not save, nor does it minimize automatically after 3-5 viewings (whatever it was). -MrStump
    • Fixed. Max 19:59, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
  • Rich text links don't work yet.
    • Updated Max 19:59, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
  • On a site profile, the second-to-last keyword repeats as the last keyword. --Chav-Slayer
    • Fixed Max 19:33, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
  • Uploads only work in Firefox.
    • Fixed, or at least a fix was tested on chrome and IE8. Max 01:28, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
  • UI for frienemies needs to be finished.
  • YTMND spy needs to be written.
  • Favicon does not appear on site profiles and pretty much ever other page besides the front page.
    • Fixed. Max 00:25, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
  • Low-rated comments are hidden even though I have that feature deactivated.
    • Fixed. Max 00:25, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
  • Some people listed in my friends list are listed as "enemy" even though they have not made me an enemy.
    • Fixed. Max 08:43, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
  • You can use Enter in comments, allowing massive comment page spam. Comment windows need a height limit. Example of what I mean Located Here. -MrStump
    • I implemented a "fix" for this today, but frankly it could still easily be abused. I think how it works now is fine and I'll just have to deal with people who abuse it.
  • Adding a site to your favorite list, doesn't do anything. -Hanktherapper
    • Fixed Max 06:22, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
  • Sites cannot be removed from favorites list - Nuroticat
    • Fixed. Max 06:22, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
  • Views on the /sites/ pages don't seem to be right.
    • Fixed. Max 00:28, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
      • But referrer counts don't seem to be right.
  • Comment replies sometimes do not appear directly under the comment they are replies to. Can best be summed up on this page.
    • Fixed. Max 00:28, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
  • Top rated isn't listing the sites in order. -Hanktherapper
    • Fixed. Max 05:05, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
  • On the front page, the top site under each heading is set against a background of exactly the same bright shade of red as the star colour in the foreground. This is a terrible mistake. Not only does it obscure the site's rating and (to a lesser extent) the title, it also introduces an extremely disorienting visual interruption into the beginning of each of the six site lists, resulting in poor legibility. The whole front page would be rendered more readable if these first items were set against the dark grey diamond background instead.Rafe.
    • Hey, you fixed it! Thanks Max! —Rafe 02:06, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
  • I can't find the link to the wiki page from the front page. - doctorhamgasm.
    • Fixed Max 00:29, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
  • Spy is broken in IE8 - Kremlin
