We don't think that YTMND should be sunshine and puppies all the time, and it's a different style of humor that we appreciate. It's not about polluting the site, it's about doing something a little different from the mainstream. The "purposely bad" sites we make often take more time than the original site that is being transformed. You don't have to like the sites, but I think you should take another look at them and try to find what about it we find to be of quality.
