Skatebird was originally a site posted in June 2006 by the user dctownes that featured nothing more than a static image of a bird on a skateboard. He also spelled bird as brid, possibly to add to the humor of the site. We hope.
In 2007, the user nutnics decided to give the bird life by animating it actually skateboarding and grinding. Other sites were created featuring the bird(brid) followed suit.
Skatebird is usually seen riding a skateboard, but it has also ridden other boards, such as a snowboard and even a keyboard.
