The Black People fad was created in October 2005 during a Hurricane Katrina disaster relief telethon, Kanye West broke away from the script much to the shock and dismay of those on the set, including fellow speaker Mike Myers, and complained about the treatment of black people, not just during Hurricane Katrina, but period. He then followed by saying the now well-known and extremely quoted comment: "George Bush doesn't care about black people". In the fad, the phrase "black people" is usually replaced with another YTMND.
