A cursor is an indicator used by mouse-driven interfaces to show the current position of the mouse pointer. A cursor is required to navigate around YTMND.com, as well as most other websites, and is used in most modern operating systems. A cursor is also required to get the full experience of the below fads.

Worthy spinoffs:

The first 'cursor site' was "close eyes, click , open eyes, guess" by typogra - an interactive YTMND considered to be the "first YTMND game" according to Wired Magazine's Table of Malcontents blog. Several spinoff YTMNDs ensued, most notably the popular Khan Finds his Pointer. Alternate versions quickly surfaced to accommodate users with custom cursors or Apple's default cursor.

In late 2007, a subfad arose which removed the cursor from the equation. These sites consisted of several images taken from a fad and distributed across the screen in a manner similar to the original site; the music was remixed with soundbites from that fad. This version is associated with the Poland/KHANTMND camp.

VOTE OBAMA

During the lead-up to the 2008 presidential election, typogra changed the title of his site to 'VOTE OBAMA'. The title remained even after Obama won, was inaugurated, and spent over a year in office. He still hasn't changed it back.

Worthy spinoffs:

Afew months after the "close eyes" cursor YTMND came a series of "interactive cursor" YTMNDs which led to the creation of several cursor-based sites, starting with Cursor Paradise.
