Original YTMND: Holy crap, a meteor! |
Worthy spinoffs: |
The Holy crap fad was first created by CDawg82191 on April 26th, 2006 and was at first a blank, white screen with a period portrayed as a meteor. After users began commenting[1] on the site, a background image was added. The site went through many edits and became the YTMND as is seen now. This fad / effect is only possible on YTMND due to the sites use of 3D ascii text.
YTMNDs of this type often have a variety of different texts, sometimes aligned with the image. The initial song was "Requiem for a Tower", but due to massive complaints about the overuse of the "Fire Spirit" theme, the song was changed to Yasunori Mitsuda's "Lavos's Theme" from the video game Chrono Trigger.
