The Rapture fad happened when Harold Camping, a Christian radio host, predicted that the Rapture would occur on May 21, 2011 and the Earth would be destroyed five months later, on October 21. When May 21 passed and the Rapture didn't take place, several sites on YTMND were made to mock him.

Harold Camping had previously predicted that the Rapture would occur in September 1994. This prediction was wrong as well.
