The Seizes Control fad began with Altron88's Princess Peach Seizes Control, featuring Princess Peach and other elements from the Super Mario Bros. games superimposed over stills from a speech by Adolf Hitler at the Berlin Sportpalast. The original, unaltered images can be seen in an early spinoff, Hitler Seizes Control.
Fad Structre
Seizes Control YTMNDs typically work by substituting Hitler with either a subject completely unlike him (e.g., Lambchop) or a subject the site's creator wishes to compare to Hitler (Eric Bauman). YTMND characters are sometimes used to illustrate their unstoppable power (Chuck Norris) or their singlemindedness (Milton Waddams).
Criticism
There has been much criticism regarding the fad. Most people believe that it does not take much effort to whip out a "Seize Control" site, saying that all they have to do is to replace the signs and Hitler's face with the character being used in the fad.
Music
The music used in almost all Seizes Control YTMNDs is "Advent: One Winged Angel" by Uematsu Nobuo from the movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. It has been included on YTMND - The Soundtrack Volume 10.
