Milla Jovovich as a fad began as a YTMND of an old GIF that was made by the successful user Mohrdikai, partly made into a satire on Featured User activity (or at least the domain would have you consider). It was simply a GIF of actress Milla Jovovich twirling knives from the trailer for Resident Evil: Extinction, as described in the title. In the site profile, Mohrdikai states:

"Edited this gif ages ago. Was too lazy to edit in glowsticks. Now the glowstick fad is played out. That's the joke."

To back up this statement, he mixed McBain (The Simpsons) claiming "That's The Joke." into the music used for the site.

Following this straightforward YTMND, one user created a site of the same scene, only he had edited the knives out, leaving users with an opportunity to have some fun and make their own edits. In less than two days, a fair amount of parodies have already appeared on YTMND, featuring Milla twirling various objects in different themes. Given the significant amount of spin-offs, Milla Jovovich twirling things can already be considered a real fad on YTMND.
