Origins
Pianist and J-Man are two friends who made many sites including a pair of brothers both named "Jed." These minimalist sites initially caught little recognition, but eventually many users realized the brilliance behind Jed. Such users include money-hat, gr33nscr33n, AwesomeBob, Chibi-Tai, ScndPistonHonda, waystryl, stratos-the-bratos, murphvelocity, and BTape. The source for the Jed footage is believed to have been taken from a 90's porno titled "Checkmate." The imdb page for the film can be found here. Steve Drake and Steve Hatcher are the actors who play the Jeds and both of them are credited in Checkmate.
Current Status
Recently a small number of Jed sites have been made with some success, though unfortunately Pianist and J-Man have been disinterested in YTMND lately. Their absence is believed to have been caused by the rise in gimmick downvoters in late 2006. Unfortunately, no other YTMND user has been able to obtain a copy of the film Checkmate to continue production of Jed sites with new content.
