Worthy Spinoffs:

The Super Mario World Ending theme, sped up 150% (mostly) is used as the background music in sites with places, objects or foods with "lol" (or variations of lol) hidden in the the image. Also it's used in regularly wacky sites and the popular "Math is Pwned!" YTMND. The theme was included in Volume 4 of the YTMND Soundtrack.

The original tune (simply titled "Ending") was created by Koji Kondo. He is responsible for many other video game compositions including the themes for The Legend of Zelda and Star Fox.

Criticism and NARV Status

The overuse of the music has led to negative attention. Also, the ytmnd with screenshots of news items or webpages edited with Paintbrush adding "lol", "pwned", etc. in blurry red letters started with the Cerro Lolol site.
